Amodeo became too publicly successful too fast. This set people out, be it for rational reasons or self-interest. Emotional reasons founded in envy were a driving factor when hunting Amodeo - alter glory to defeat.
Because Amodeo involved himself in an exceptionally risky reorganization strategy, it was easy for someone to misinterpret the intent. His wife tells the story of her liking President Bill Clinton, comparing it to Amodeo's fall. She said she doesn't care what Clinton's sexual relations are with anybody, because that's his and Hillary's business - not the public. However, it was an incredibly foolish thing to do in the public's eye, as it is no secret that people are malicious. So, as much as she respects him, the behavior was idiotic, and felt the same applies for Amodeo's involvement in the tax business.
Amodeo grew concerns that the folks operating the re-organization plans had gotten lazy, and not timely performing. They lacked the appropriate sense of urgency to reach conclusions. Later on, Amodeo's judgement proved true. Some individuals sought out Amodeo's help, asking for him to step in and manage the plan. Amodeo agreed, and began speaking with the IRS General Counsel. This is when the Congo Event happened, before Amodeo went on a truly manic experience. By then, the Congo engagements made the situation worse, as very powerful groups were looking to halt Amodeo's rise in power.
Amodeo felt disappointed at the people who became afraid and ran away. After the natural cycle of depression for a couple of days, Amodeo dedicated himself to proving the system wrong. He came exceptionally focused and diligent to learning the truth, and ensuring the truth was known.
During this time, many people remained loyal, but some who were previously friendly wanted a bit of distance. There were many who completely abandoned ship, but there were only a couple or three who became traitors to the truth. Those sought out in deceit created stories, making the tale up as they went, in attempt to protect themselves regardless of who was hurt.
Despite all that was going on in Amodeo's world, he never lost love nor furiendship with his cat, Pepé.
